Efficient Development Thanks to Modelling
Nowadays, models are common-place in software development. In particular, since the standardisation of the Unified Modelling Language, modelling has spread widely in the IT world. However, models are used mainly for analysis and lose their importance in the course of system development. Usually, at the conclusion of a project, they cannot even be considered reliable documentation. In contrast, domain-specific modelling puts the accent clearly on the model and derives all project artefacts from it. All decisions made during the analysis and especially during the design phase are documented, and require no further effort during subsequent implementations. Project development is characterised by a continuous refinement and amendment of the models, without repetitive or parallel work. The architecture remains adaptable up to the end of the software life cycle and the resulting system is easy to maintain.
